Seems grim doesn’t it?
I can’t explain it myself really well, but it is indeed grim. Students now have more privileges than the teachers, which makes it easier for the lazy ones and the ones that just want to force their ideology to report the prof and just make him disappear.
Feelings are now stronger than facts and this is the one reason why I am frightened about my future as a professor. One day I may be teaching in some university and the other day I might lose that job just because I stated my opinion or I proved some student wrong.
It all starts with being politically correct. The worst possible thing you can do.
Not only will that turn you into a bigot but it will also ruin the way you see the world.
Everything will start to look grim and oppressing to you, while in reality there is nothing wrong.
What happens is that those “politically correct” students start to complain because their feelings were hurt and the professors just lose their jobs. Of course there are a lot of universities so it’s not the same everywhere but still it is frightening to know this fact.
Imagine you being a cab driver and you lose your job because you were not able to entertain the person you were driving…
It’s a reminder that even if we are free there are some who lock themselves inside, they create their own ideal world and if someone tries to ruin it, they destroy theirs.
