I am in love with this anime and I will tell you exactly why.
Story:
The story isn’t as unique as people think as the Japanese folklore is always talking about how gods and dieties live among us so it’s not that unique, but it has never been put into an anime or at least not in this way. But let’s get that out of the way. A world that is shared with gods is something that just feels me with excitement. It’s probably the perfect anime for people like myself who are fascinated by the old gods and by mythology in general. Does it have it all?
Well it kinda does, except for romance, that’s present only a tiny bit but who actually cares when so many things are going on in that world. It’s one of those animes that you wish to read everything about the world that our godly friends are in.
Characters:
The characters are rather detailed but in such a way that they don’t give off their back story easily. It’s the thing that keeps you wanting to come back for more.
We have our Yato a minor god with a good weapon called Yukine, it’s a bit of a spoiler but you will get to know those two really well really soon.
It’s the growth of th characters and the constantly growing while showing off some sides of their past that are not revealed all at once as we are used to with some animes.
Art:
Brilliant. The animation was on point and it captured the scenes amazingly. I really like the eyes details and the cutely drawn characters. It’s really uncommon nowadays to see only one character wearing lewd cloths and well this show has only one, Lady Bishamon.
Sound:
Noragami had probably the most noticeable opening and the most fitting one from all the animes I watched. The sound was pitch perfect and the character voices fit rather well with the character design. I am not sure about the English dub though.
Personal Enjoyment:
As you can tel from the things you read above, I simply adore Noragai. I consider it one of my favorite shows so far besides Alucard and a few others. It is simply something I would recommend to everyone, new or old to anime, it is simply beautiful and has a great story that captures you from the first episode.
The only thing that kept me off for a bit was the poster image for this show as I didn’t know what I would expect from a god that looks like a teenager, but my opinion changed really fast from watching the first episode.
Great show and I can’t wait to do a review for it’s second season that just came out.
